I was born and educated in Zimbabwe. I was educated according to the British system and raised in the then-Rhodesia, later Zimbabwe. I studied in Bulawayo at The Teachers’ College, graduating from the University of Rhodesia in 1978. Initially I taught in the state sector, before moving into the private sector. Before moving to the UK in 2003, I spent 11 years at one of the leading private schools in Harare. For the last 22 years, I have been teaching in the prep department at one of the oldest private schools in England, largely as a Year 6 teacher preparing the students to make a successful transfer to the senior school.

The child is at the heart of all my tutoring. Listening to and assessing a child’s needs guides the approach I take to teaching them. Enthusiasm for the subject, gentle persuasion and encouragement form the basis to help the child reach their goals. The interactive nature of the tools modern technology provides enables my lessons to be just as engaging in an online environment as face to face lessons would be.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy going for long walks, reading and travelling. I prefer visiting countries with a warm climate as I am not at all fond of the cold. I am an avid gardener and like making the most of the sunnier days by spending time in the garden with either a pair of secateurs or a good book in hand.
