I studied Physics with Study in Continental Europe at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2001, and gained Qualified Teacher Status through Durham University in 2002, later completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

I have over twenty years’ experience teaching Physics and Mathematics to GCSE and A-level students in both the independent and state sectors, including many years as Head of Physics and Director of Assessment at one of the UK’s leading HMC schools. Alongside teaching, I am a highly experienced examiner and have worked with all the major awarding bodies.

I have supported many students preparing for Oxford and Cambridge entrance and the Physics Olympiad, with pupils regularly achieving top awards. As a recent Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, I use technology to make complex concepts clear and engaging. I now focus on one-to-one online tutoring, drawing on my examining and leadership experience to help each student build confidence and reach their full potential.

My tutoring is calm, structured and highly responsive to each student’s individual needs. I focus on developing deep understanding and exam confidence through clear explanation, interactive problem-solving and regular feedback.

Lessons are taught online using high-quality interactive tools to make even the most challenging ideas accessible. My style is supportive and encouraging — helping students refine their understanding, sharpen their technique, and approach their exams with clarity and confidence, all without unnecessary pressure.

Outside tutoring, I’m a busy parent of two and enjoy travel, reading (especially science fiction), and spending time with my family. I’m an enthusiastic member of a local running club and enjoy a range of sports — including following Sunderland AFC whenever I can. Physics has always been both my subject and my passion, so exploring new ideas and discoveries in science is very much part of how I relax too.
