I鈥檓 Eleanor (Ellie), an experienced Geography teacher and private tutor with a strong background in UK independent schools. I hold a degree in Anthropology and a Master鈥檚 in Cross-Cultural Psychology, and have a PGCE in Secondary Geography.

I was always particularly drawn to Geography at school and was inspired by my own teachers to pursue it further. After completing my undergraduate degree, I chose to return to Geography for my teacher training as I see it as a subject that brings together my love of nature, people and culture. I enjoy helping students make sense of the world around them and encouraging curiosity about places, environments and global issues.

I have held leadership roles including Acting Head of Geography and KS3 Coordinator, alongside extensive one-to-one tutoring and bespoke private education. My academic background, combined with my classroom and private tutoring experience, allows me to tailor my teaching to suit a wide range of learners, including those who need support with confidence, organisation or exam technique, as well as high-achieving students aiming for top universities.

I鈥檓 passionate about helping students build confidence, curiosity and strong thinking skills, and enjoy supporting young people to become more independent, reflective learners over time.

I take a highly personalised approach to tutoring, adapting my teaching style to suit each student鈥檚 learning needs, personality and goals. My experience in both classroom teaching and one-to-one tuition has shown me that confidence and progress come from feeling understood and supported as well as appropriately challenged.

I aim to create a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I balance clear structure with flexibility, breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and using a range of strategies to build understanding, independence and long-term motivation.

I am currently splitting my time between the UK and Europe and am therefore seeking online tutoring work. As I am not tied to a full-time school role, I am fully available for regular online sessions and am able to offer flexible but reliable weekly availability.

When I鈥檓 not tutoring, I enjoy spending time outdoors, including cold-water swimming and gardening, and I also volunteer with humanitarian projects supporting displaced communities. These experiences often inform my teaching, as I like to use real-world examples when exploring topics such as migration, sustainability and the geography of food, helping students connect their learning to lived experiences and contemporary global issues.
