Kiera

Kiera is a Cambridge graduate and writer. She has QTS and has worked as both a primary teaching assistant and secondary languages teacher in schools. She teaches across the age range. Her approach to tutoring is gentle and fun. She also has experience working with students with SEN.

I have been teaching, both as a private tutor and in a classroom setting, since 2017.

Since 2019, I have offered private tuition in English and French with ฐฎาบสำฦต.

I am a very experienced 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+ English and French tutor and have a successful record of helping to prepare students for entrance examinations, including Scholarship.

I have also helped prepare students for GCSE, IB and A-level exams in English Language and Literature and French.

I love to work with all kinds of learners to build their confidence and develop their abilities. I have a wide range of experience of SEN support for children with dyslexia, ADHD, Autism and other neurodiverse processing styles.

I have a huge amount of online tutoring experience, with many of my students based in Europe, Hong Kong and China.

Over the course of my tutoring career, I have helped many students and families to prepare for entrance exams for all the main entry points (7+, 11+, 13+, 16+) for leading UK day & boarding schools, including entry to:

Brighton College, Thomas's, City of London, Harrow, Sevenoaks, St Paul's Boys & Girls, Godolphin & Latymer, Westminster, Benenden, The Harrodian, Marlborough, Latymer Upper, Dulwich, Wycombe Abbey, Charterhouse, Francis Holland, James Allen's Girls' School, Rugby, Wellington, Bute House, Winchester and others.

Biography

I am an experienced tutor and Cambridge graduate with a PGCE from UCL and an MA in Creative Writing from UEA. I joined ฐฎาบสำฦต in 2019. With a passion for English and French, I now tutor full-time alongside writing, drawing, and painting. I have taught in both primary and secondary schools, and I was previously Head of Welfare at Norwich Lower School.

Approach to Tutoring

I have a wealth of experience in helping students prepare for the 11+, 13+, and GCSE/IB exams in English and French. I have gained a thorough understanding of what these exams entail, allowing me to customise my teaching strategies to cater to the unique needs of each student. I specialise in improving their language skills, boosting their confidence, and developing effective test-taking techniques. I am proud of the many successful admissions my students have secured at prestigious schools, which reflects the success of my teaching methods. My dedication to their success is steadfast, and I work hard to create a nurturing and engaging learning atmosphere that promotes academic growth and a love for learning. I feel privileged to assist families and young individuals as they navigate significant transitions and exams. I am passionate about coaching my students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. I have a particular talent for supporting those with specific educational needs. As a place2be Mental Health Champion, I adopt a warm, academically rigorous approach infused with humour.

When not tutoring

I practice yoga, read and write poetry, and spend time in the great outdoors. In the past year, I have developed a botanical illustration practice, combining my love of nature and art. I am always studying new languages, my latest is Norwegian!
