Emma is a highly experienced multilingual tutor, academic mentor and coach with over 6,000 hours billed and 14 years of experience.

Emma has won numerous teaching, communications, and debating awards, including the University of Cambridge’s Mountford Communications Prize, the House of Lords’ essay competition, the Oxford Union’s Schools’ Debating Competition, and the Excellence in Teaching Prize.

Emma’s insights are regularly sought after on international panels, where she has spoken alongside esteemed figures such as the former Director of Public Prosecutions, the former Governor of the Bank of England, and numerous presidents of nation-states. She recently contributed to a roundtable discussion with the President of Palau, attended meetings with the former US Vice President, interviewed a former German Ambassador and participated in a panel at The Law Society with Sharif Shivji KC.

Her professional journey includes roles within the British Civil Service, the British Council in China and as a diplomat at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. To secure her position at the OECD, Emma was chosen as one of the top six successful applicants from a competitive pool of 2,600 candidates after passing rigorous tests and interviews. More recently, she served as the Head of Communications for a company co-founded by the former US Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve. She also worked as a Senior Engagement Manager for an international organisation in the City of London, and as a Strategic Advisor for a range of startups.

Academically, Emma holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, where she was awarded a full scholarship, and has earned degrees from UC Berkeley, Sciences Po Paris, and the University of Warwick, receiving academic scholarships at all institutions. For her undergraduate degree, she was awarded First Class honours and the prize for the highest-performing student in her department. She also holds a certificate from Harvard Business School.

Emma is multilingual and has lived in 12 different countries and is passionate about supporting students relocating internationally, or those for whom English is not their mother tongue.

‘WARM’ / ‘CARING’ / ‘ENGAGING’ / ‘COMMITTED’

Emma’s tutoring style is first and foremost nurturing. She prides herself on being warm, engaging and sensitive to the individual’s needs, in order to bring out the best in each pupil. Many of Emma’s tutees have been with her for over five years, and she continues to develop long-term, meaningful relationships with each of her clients to support them through each step on their academic journey.

Emma focuses on supporting students transitioning schools and securing places at their desired school at each access point, from 7+ up to 16+. She has extensive expertise in all aspects of the Common Entrance exams, as well as grammar school exams.

Believing that smooth and joyful academic transitions are key to long-term success, Emma also works with a range of charities to mentor students at pivotal moments in their education. This includes supporting pupils as they move from primary to senior school and from GCSEs to A Levels, through initiatives such as Godolphin & Latymer’s The Bridge programme and mentoring students during the summer before A Level with the Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (RNCSF).

For A Level and university students, she specialises in helping students excel at writing higher mark essay questions or dissertations. She has built additional expertise in supporting dyslexic students with their essay writing. For six months, she was in-residence at the dyslexia charity, Bell House, co-running a workshop at their annual Dyslexia Fair, among other things.

In her first tutorials, she will conduct an assessment to gauge the student’s current level, then set out clear objectives and target grades with the student and family.

When she is not tutoring, Emma is coaching CEOs or organising meditation retreats. She is a fully qualified mindfulness teacher with a specialism in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), which she integrates into her coaching and tutorials to help clients manage stress, develop focus, and build resilience. With a daily yoga and meditation practice, Emma brings a grounded and holistic approach to her work.

Emma is a trained Mental Health First Aider and a committed member of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, with a strong record of mentoring students who have struggled with anxiety, ADHD, low self-esteem, bullying, or difficult teacher relationships. She volunteers for three local education charities and serves as a trustee, and is particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent pupils.

Through these varied roles, Emma brings a rare combination of academic expertise, emotional intelligence, and social commitment to every session she leads.
