September 1985 to December 2014 -Mander Portman Woodward: teaching A level and GCSE Religious Studies across several examination boards (Pearson, AQA, OCR, Eduqas), Oxbridge entrance preparation, GCSE English preparation.

January 2015 to July 2024 - Putney High School - A level and GCSE Religious Studies from KS3 to A level. UCAS application coordinator.

Throughout this time I have tutored students for A level and GCSE Religious Studies on a private basis.

I am an experienced teacher of Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics from school entrance to university entrance and beyond.

I hold the RSA Diploma for teachers of students with SPLD and I am confident working with students who have SEN.

Biography

I hold a Bachelor of Divinity in Theology, a Master of Theology in New Testament and a Master of Arts in Religious Education. I have worked as a teacher since leaving university: Mander Portman Woodward from 1985 to December 2014 and at Putney High School from January 2015 to July 2024. I have covered many roles within secondary education: Head of Year 10/11, UCAS Coordinator and Advisor, DSL, academic mentoring, exams administration, parental communication, recruitment, department management and day to day oversight of many aspects of school life. I have worked as an examiner and Principal Examiner for Pearson/Edexcel for 25+ years. I have carried out numerous INSET sessions for teachers, spoken at student conferences and supported teachers and examiners throughout their work.

Approach to Tutoring

As a teacher, I am heart centred, intellectually rigorous, student focused and energetic. I am committed to enabling every student to reach their potential, and I am happy to have taught many students who have far exceeded their expectations. Whilst providing valuable study resources to enable students to work effectively in their own time, I encourage students to be fully involved in lessons, guiding them to find solutions, evaluate arguments themselves, and make connections between their subjects. I believe that all lessons should be engaging and happy, and lead students to make new discoveries and develop new ideas.

When not tutoring

I am an accomplished classical singer, a Master Colour Energy Healer and dedicated animal advocate. I am committed to supporting the work of St Mary's Church, Putney, particular in outreach projects for teenagers and in teaching adults.
